(H. P. Lovecraft fanfic) Sledding and starlings

Well I’m not sure if it is correct to call it fanfic, because is based only in the style came from H. P. Lovecraft, When I was child I get involved about the HPL stories for me they were a big influence and turned out my vision of the world to another level. Lately I found a site called lovecraftzine, where they realize a monthly online magazine, in this magazine they post short tales at full Lovecraft style I want to recommend it widely, after finish reading the short tales from Lovecraft I wanted to readmore about his world, Maybe this is no Lovecraft, but this persons at Lovecraftzine really make a good work. So here their first tale.

In this story we have the moments about a couple trapped in the middle of an Ice storm, Alone, the only company is a Tree covered by starlings… A desperate situation, and only one of that 2 persons returned…

Sledding and Starlings

(By Bruce L. Priddy)

Annie left me behind in that field. I left behind fingers and toes.

Six inches of snow in two hours, and more on the way. A freak storm no weather man in the city had predicted, no radar had seen coming. One of us had the idea of sledding at the Crescent Hill reservoir, I don’t remember who. Sometimes I think it was her, but all that means is that it was obviously me.

We shouldn’t have been out. The roads were paved over in ice, the wipers could not keep up with what was falling out of the sky and the end of Annie’s car refused to stay in one lane. Twice we spun out. The three mile drive to the reservoir took us an hour. We never once thought of going back home. At least I didn’t, and if Annie did, she never put it to voice.

There was no one else out. We were the only two people in the world.
